Learn to Knit
This course introduces the art of knitting through hands-on, supportive instruction in a small class setting. The beginner student is introduced to the vast array of creative possibilities through yarn, needle size selection and knitting pattern choices.
Topics include: Casting on (putting stitches on the needle), basic knitting, trouble-shooting, binding off (taking stitches off the needle) and finishing the project.
There are three Learn to Knit sessions this Fall. Each session includes two, one hour lessons that will be taught on Saturday mornings (8:30 to 9:30 am), with a maximum of 8 students per class. Class dates are:
· September 11th and 18th
· October 2nd and 9th
· November 6th and 13th
Cost: $20/session + Supplies to be purchased at Slip Knot.
Project Class
Interested in pushing the limit? Are you ready to go to the extreme? Then the project class is for you!
You pick the project (make it challenging), and get the help you need in a fun class-style setting. This is a great opportunity to make the perfect garment to impress your friends or a spectacular gift for someone special.
We will be holding three sessions, consisting of three classes each, during the Fall. Each session will be held on Saturday morning (9:45 to 11:15 am), with a maximum of 8 students per class. Class dates are:
· September 11th, 18th and 25th
· October 2nd, 9th and 23rd
· November 6th, 13th and 20th
· December 4th, 11th and 18th.
Cost: $45/session + Supplies to be purchased at Slip Knot.
Knit-Along
Here’s a neat idea…Come and join us while we knit the beautiful Creature Comforts Cardigan from Madelinetosh. AND… we’re going to be doing it All Day on Wednesdays!

With the purchase of the supplies at Slip Knot, feel free to stop by any time on Wednesdays to knit, hang out and get some help if you’re stuck. Remember, we’re open until 9 PM on Wednesdays!!
We’re starting the project on September 8th, and the cost to join in the fun is ZERO (just buy the yarn and pattern at Slip Knot).
Turkish Bed Socks – A Churchmouse Classics pattern
Talk about learning to knit from the ground up! These footie socks are full of great skills: picking up stitches, toe shaping with decreases, even a little mattress-stitch seaming. They’re brilliant for gifts, travel or around the house – you can even wear them in clogs!

This project will be taught in two 1 ½ hour classes from 1PM to 2:30PM on:
· Thursdays September 9th and 16th.

Welted Fingerless Gloves – Another Churchmouse Classics pattern
Walking the dog, playing the piano, keyboarding in a cold office: when wouldn’t you wear these great fingerless gloves? And here’s the best news: all skills you need to knit these will serve you in future projects! Cindy will show you how to juggle double-point needs, how to count purl and knit rounds, and how to perform right- and left- slanting increases for the thumb gusset.

This project will be taught in two 2 hour classes from 1PM to 3PM on:
· Thursdays September 23th and 30th.

Scroll Scarf – by Ysolda Teague
The pattern represents a wonderful cooler weather scarf. Its shallow curved shape is perfect for gracefully wrapping around your neck. The flowing, organic edging pattern, with its unusually large holes, is Victorian.
Best of all, you’ll find that with a little help, the scarf is a wonderful project to help you take your skills to the next level.

This project will be taught in two 1 ½ hour classes from 1PM to 2:30PM on:
· Thursdays. October 7th and 14th.

Beret – One more Churchmouse Classics pattern
This playful beret makes the most of one precious skein of Claudia HandPainted Yarns Fingering Merino, and it’s a great introduction to circular knitting for you beginners. For others an optional touch of beading 'glids the lily.' Cindy will teach you the ins and outs of shaping, and beading if you desire. With all that, plus a shape that’s timeless and flattering, this little beret makes the perfect gift.

This project will be taught in two 1 ½ hour classes from 1PM to 2:30PM on:
· Thursdays. October 21st and 28th.

Crochet Basics
Similar to our Learn to Knit class, this class explores the beginnings of crochet to help the student either create a crochet garment or better understand how to add crochet accents or finishing to a knitted project.
This project will be taught in two 1 ½ hour classes from 1PM to 2:30PM on:
· Thursdays. November 4th and 11th.
